4.5 STARS – Jay Crownover‘s Marked Men series is one of my all-time favorites, so any time I read anything new from her, I worry that it won’t live up to the tattooed boys I love so much. Every time I’m proven wrong. Jay’s writing is consistent, and so are the characters she creates. They’re always unique, perfectly flawed, real, lovable, and relatable. I’m pretty sure I highlighted more words in this book than not. So many great lines!! This book has lots of feels, and left me teary-eyed more than once. It also left me swooning hardcore for Zeb Fuller! I love, love, LOVED seeing the other side of Sayer than we had seen in MM. Once again, Jay created a character I didn’t think I’d love, but she proved me wrong! She’s wizardy like that. And I ADORE books with kids, and this kid is THE CUTEST!! If you haven’t read the Marked Men series, you can dive right into this one, but I would encourage you to read MM. If not before, than at least after. But probably before. Just read all of Jay’s books, okay? – Review by Abby O’Shea
